On 9 May 2016, the Philippines will make another historical milestone in the world of politics – a subject that is so controversial and unscrupulous in a developing country like ours. And yet, we continue to hope as ordinary citizens. I always thank GOD for the Gift of Hope.
This year, the National Election is considered the most thought-provoking among the past elections in the Philippines with the rise of fresher candidates for Presidency who have not been on top-most positions before, hitherto, have notable legacies. Having said this, my countrymen is demanding for REAL CHANGE in the Philippines.
A change that will instill back the true values of Filipinos. A change that will shape our responsibilities toward ethical relationships and humanitarian causes.
We may usually be a subject of prejudice and mockery by the outside world caused by a fraudulent political system that was imbued on the lives of Filipinos. And I cannot completely disagree on the rationale with regards to their intuition of us. Even so, I seek for their empathy and liberal minds.
Some have allowed themselves to be permeated with the shady ways of Philippine politics yet I believe there are still some who have been rebelling silently and finding the means for change in their personal tracks. With whatever consequences that transpired, I always advocate for the real change which should come from within us, the ordinary Filipinos.
As individuals, unless we begin a change in mindset, views and behavior towards the moral path, we cannot hold our government fully accountable to all the miseries of life.
This is where I truly admire my fellow countrymen who are always brave enough to voice out opinions in diplomatic, logical and impartial manners.
Hence, we are not supposed to encourage self-centered revolutions and allow ourselves to be influenced by cynical insurgencies. If the common masses continue with such futile actions, it is very difficult to achieve peace and unity. I urge my beloved compatriots: “Once and for all, let us learn from the tragic experiences and realities of the past mutinies.”
With our own candidates in my mind who we believe can lead a sturdy change anew, still none of us can tell who the real one is.
With modesty and simplicity, I turn to the whole world now to unite with us - the Filipino people, in prayer as we exercise our right to vote. Keep us in your spirits that every Filipino should seek for wisdom and truth so that even in our limited capacities, we still have the power to enthrone an upright leader not because of popularity, knowledge, experience and wealth but because the candidate is a Virtuous Human.
Like every ordinary citizen on earth, the Filipino people have always been fighting for peace, justice and harmony which should begin in our land so that we can raise our heads up with feet on the ground every time we step out and the world can start looking at us in a more decent perspective.
Oh how I loved the early life, how I admire the primitive classic generations and how I yearn for the old traditions when I started to learn nobility and ethics. I wonder if there is still a chance to bring back that good old custom of living.
May the Philippines finally restore the reputable impression it was once known for. Let peaceful and honest election prevail from now on.
May GOD Heal our land.
